Santa Baby?

Santa surprised me this year with a very special head cold. It wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, actually, I really would have preferred a lump of coal.

Nurse in the House!

This weekend we went down to Grand Junction for my sister's graduation from Mesa State's Nursing program. Yep, my little sister is a Nurse. We're all very proud and excited for her. Turns out it's pretty hard to get a nursing degree! Also, Ari gets the Team Player award for doing all of the driving in some really bad conditions. I supported him by keeping him entertained between my cat-naps.
Otherwise, I am very thankful that this week is a rest week for me. The weekly forecast does not include any temperatures above freezing, so I am content to maybe do some trainer time, but mainly cross train for the week.

Playing a Professional Athlete

Today I pretended to be a real, legitimate professional athlete. I took the whole day off of work just to ride my bike. It was wonderful. I went out on my road bike, meandering towards Hygiene, and then meandered my way home. All by myself. Yeah, and my I-pod died halfway through. That means that I spent over four hours on my bike all by my lonesome and without music distractions. For me, that is a major accomplishment. I have a pretty low tolerance for boredom.
When I got home I ate some food, I showered, I put on my Skins, and I focused on recovery in a very relaxed manner:). Man, I wish someone would actually pay me to do this.

Foot Loose and Cavity Free!

Yep, annual dental check-up yesterday. Nothing to report-my pearly whites will live to see another day. Whew.
In other news I also rode my bike yesterday. It was very cold, icy, and borderline dangerous when Judy and I started out. But, the sun came out and by the time I was rolling home it was down right tropical.
This time I had to clean my own bike. How quickly we become spoiled.

Wiped out

Yeah, first long ride of the season for me. The good: new bike (thanks to Matt and Joey at Trek Store Boulder), great company (thanks to Becca and Judy), beautiful day (thanks to Mother Nature). The bad: my bike got really dirty because of the sloppy roads:( The ugly: me rolling in after over 4hrs of ride time.
Fortunately, after I reluctantly got out of the nice warm shower, preparing myself to head back outside to clean my beautiful bike, I discovered that my sweet husband had already done it for me! Now that was a pleasant surprise.

First Timer!

Yep, we've got a first time blogger here! I'm going to try and give this blogging stuff a shot. I won't presume that very many people care about what I'm up to on a regular basis, but a few (mom, dad?) might. I will try to share my thoughts and adventures regarding what it takes to be a professional level mountain bike racer, who happens to work full time, and who also tries to spend as much time as possible with her patient husband and puppy-dog.
